Amatrnath Free Meal Camp
The langar or free meals are regularly organized by charitable societies at Baltal and Pahalgam pilgrimage centers. Various social societies from Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jammu, Kolkota and many states alike keep on organizing special langars at the vacant space provided with the prior permission from Jammu and Kashmir government. In the recent years various camps owned by local populace have also mushroomed up outside the camp near Lidder River. The langar near the holy cave runs for 24 hours. These langars are completely free of cost and include all the necessary food items. Full cleanliness is maintained by the Sewa members while cooking the meals. The pilgrims after eating the meals can also take full rest at these camps organized by the locales, J&k government and social societies.
Special food stalls have also come up at the base camps which charge money for the packed as well as cooked food. The tent houses owned by Muslims here also have all the facilities to cook food. The pilgrims on special requests from the tent owners can cook meals for them and the members accompanying them.
