Amarnath Yatra Road Map
There are two routes with in the precincts of the Kashmir region which can be followed by the pilgrims to reach Amarnath Cave. The first route goes from Jammu to Pahalgam. The second route goes from Pahalgam via Srinagar to Baltal. The distance from Jammu to Pahalgam is 315 kilometer and the distance from Jammu to Baltal is about 414 km, which can easily be approached by taxi or bus. The Pahalgam to Amarnath Cave uphill climb distance is 50 km which is perceived to be the most difficult trek. But pilgrims preferably chose Srinagar to Baltal route. The Srinagar to Baltal route is shorter and it takes more than 6 hours to reach pilgrimage camp. From Baltal to Amarnath cave the pilgrims have to cover the remaining distance of 14km uphill trek by foot or pony.
